Meet Our Legal Team
Deb Rasmussen, Managing Attorney
I'm Deb Rasmussen, your neighborhood Personal Family Lawyer®, and I'm here to support you by creating a plan that works. I graduated from Brigham Young University in Linguistics with minors in Chinese and Japanese and raised 4 humans before becoming a lawyer. I was also an entrepreneur for 15 years in the memory-keeping industry.
I apply this experience in preserving your family wealth, which consists of not only your money and property, but also your family values, pictures, and stories. Just prior to attending Campbell Law School, I worked as an estate planning paralegal. During law school, I interned at the North Carolina Court of Appeals for the Honorable Judge Julee Flood and after graduation, clerked for the Honorable Chief Judge Donna Stroud.
I'm known for my people skills, Debbie Downers, and ability to resolve conflict. I love working with families here at Rasmussen Law, which I started in May of 2024. I belong to the North Carolina Bar, the Wake County Estate Planning Council, and the J Reuben Clark Legal Society. I live in Morrisville, North Carolina with my handsome husband, Lars.
McCaul Nelson, Associate Attorney
I'm McCaul Nelson, a dedicated attorney focused on estate planning and administration. I received my undergraduate degree from UNC Chapel Hill in 2015 and worked in fundraising and compliance before starting my legal education in 2021 at Campbell University School of Law (J.D. 2024). While in law school, I also completed my Master's in Trust and Wealth Management from the Campbell University School of Business and served on the school's Pro Bono Council and Honor Court.
I'm known for my approachable demeanor and commitment to compassionate guidance, and I aim to build lifelong relationships with my clients. I believe in treating every client who walks through my door as if they were my parent, grandparent, or best friend. I always want to hear about your kids, grandkids, pets, and learn something new about you!
I'm a member of the North Carolina Bar, the Wake County Bar, and the Wake County Estate Planning Council. Outside of work, I volunteer on the Wedding Committee at Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral, foster dogs with Charley's K-9 Rescue, and use my fundraising experience to support the Me Fine Foundation, which helps families of pediatric patients in medical crisis situations. I also enjoy playing mah jongg, traveling with my husband, and taking our dog, Cricket, to Dorothea Dix Park.
